DMARC record generator

Pick a policy and where reports go, and copy the record. It runs in your browser: nothing is sent anywhere.

What should happen to mail that fails?

Daily summaries from receivers such as Gmail and Outlook. An address at another domain needs that domain's permission to receive them.

Your DMARC record

Type
TXT
Host
_dmarc

v=DMARC1; p=none

  • A domain has one DMARC record, at _dmarc. Replace an old one rather than adding a second.
  • DMARC works on top of SPF and DKIM: set those up first, then check all three with the free DMARC checker.

What it checks

How to roll out DMARC

In three steps

1. Monitor (p=none)
Nothing is blocked. Reports show every service that sends as your domain.
2. Quarantine
Once every real sender passes SPF or DKIM, failing mail goes to spam.
3. Reject
Failing mail is refused: the strongest protection against spoofing.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Where do I add the record?+

At your DNS host, as a TXT record with the host _dmarc and the value from this page.

Will p=none hurt my email?+

No. p=none only asks receivers to report; it never blocks or moves your mail.

How do I check it worked?+

DNS changes can take a while to appear. Then run the free DMARC checker on your domain.
