Cold email checker

Paste a cold email to see what helps or hurts it reaching the inbox. These are the checks SendPath's editor runs as you write.

Checked in your browser. Nothing is sent or saved.

Write variables as {{first_name}}. In SendPath, {{unsubscribe_url}} and {{physical_address}} are filled in for every contact: a one-click unsubscribe link and your business address.

Required to send

  • Unsubscribe link

Add {{unsubscribe_url}} - every email needs a one-click way out, and Gmail and Yahoo require it for bulk mail.

  • Postal address

Add {{physical_address}} - the law (CAN-SPAM) requires a postal address in every commercial email.

Hurts inbox placement

  • Spam-trigger words

"free", "only a few left", "guaranteed", "100% free", "act now" - filters and readers flag these. Say it plainly instead.

  • Subject line

The subject has "FREE" in capitals; an "!"; a "Re:" or "Fwd:" on a first message - deceptive, and filters know it.

  • Link safety

bit.ly hides where the link goes - spam filters distrust short links.

Gets more replies

  • A question to answer

End with one simple question ("Worth a quick chat?"). Replies tell inbox providers people want your mail.

  • Variety (spintax)

Every contact gets identical wording. At volume, vary a greeting or a line with {{RANDOM | Hi | Hello}} so emails don't all look the same to filters.

In SendPath these checks run as you write, and the pre-send gate won't send an email that fails a required one.

What it checks

What helps, what hurts, and what's required

Required to send

Unsubscribe link
A one-click way out. Gmail and Yahoo require it for bulk mail.
Postal address
The law (CAN-SPAM) asks for one in every commercial email.
Variables written correctly
Every {{variable}} has both its braces, so nobody gets a broken greeting.

Hurts inbox placement

Spam-trigger words
Hype that filters and readers both distrust.
Subject line
Short, with no words in capitals, no "!" or emoji, and no fake "Re:".
Links
One link or none in a first email, and no short links, bare IP addresses or disguised links.
Length and tone
Under 200 words, without shouting or a row of exclamation marks.

Gets more replies

Personalisation
A {{first_name}} or a line about their company makes each email different.
A question to answer
Ending on one simple question makes replying easy.
Variety
Spintax like {{RANDOM | Hi | Hello}} so emails don't all look the same at volume.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Is it really free?+

Yes. There's no sign-up, and it runs in your browser: nothing you paste is sent or saved.

Why does it ask for {{unsubscribe_url}} and {{physical_address}}?+

Every cold email needs a way to unsubscribe and a postal address. In SendPath you write these two variables once, and each contact gets their own one-click unsubscribe link and your business address.

Does a high score mean my email will reach the inbox?+

No. The checker looks at the email itself. Where it lands also depends on your domain's DNS, your mailbox's reputation and warm-up, and your list. SendPath checks those before every campaign as well.

How is the score worked out?+

It starts at 100 and loses 10 for each warning and 3 for each tip. While a required check fails, it's 40 at most.
